Target Instrumentation Module
Separating Retry Air-launched Target (SRALT) TSIM
- ABT developed the target hit grid indicator for the SRALT tactical ballistic missile target
- Met all physical requirements of launch, boost, and re-entry.
- Provided reliable wire break telemetry with 5 microseconds time resolution.
- Designed/developed all prototype hardware for system.
- Modeled prime’s plasma gun and rail tests to simulate wave front.
- Modeled communications efficiency of encoding schemes to determine optimal encoding
- ABT designed and developed:
- Custom FPGA-based Grid Interface Units and VMEbus telemetry processor
- Mission software for Linux-based Thales VME processor with web-server I/F
- Real-time telemetry display and post-mission telemetry reduction software
Arrow System Improvement Program (ASIP) SCUD-B TSIM
- ABT adapted the SRALT telemetry system and data reduction software for the ASIP TSIM
- Added telemetry data pertaining to software state to better ID system state throughout mission through use of ROMDOS
- Reduced size by 75%, significantly reduced cost, reused grid interface unit, and added interface for auxiliary APL optical blast initiation detector
- Improved Telemetry Data Recorder, Real-Time Display, and post-mission data reduction software
§Matched Ballistic Re-entry Vehicle – 2 (MBRV-2) TSIM
- ABT built on previous TSIM efforts to add:
- Autonomous GUIs, removal of all unnecessary features, converted to stand alone instrument w/o S/W
- Automatic BIT testing during pre-mission check-outs allows easy go-no go decisions
